UCSD Consent to Act as a Research Study Participant

An Investigation of Human Attention and Memory

You will be participating in a voluntary research study conducted by Professor Hal Pashler from the Psychology Department at the University of California, San Diego. You are a possible participant in this study if you are at least 18 years of age.

PURPOSE OF THE STUDY. The purpose of the study is to explore the nature of memory formation.

PROCEDURES. If you volunteer to participate in this study, the experiment will be presented to you through your browser. The experiment will contain specific instructions on how to proceed.

POTENTIAL RISKS AND DISCOMFORTS. No potential risks or discomforts are anticipated.

POTENTIAL BENEFITS TO SUBJECTS AND/OR TO SOCIETY. This research may shed light on how memories are formed.

PAYMENT FOR PARTICIPATION. You will not be paid for your participation in this research study.

CONFIDENTIALITY. This study is as anonymous as possible. We will request your email address only to verify that you have not previously completed this same study. Your experiment data will not be tied to any personally identifying information.

PARTICIPATION AND WITHDRAWAL. This study is entirely voluntary. If you volunteer to be in this study, you may end your participation at any time without consequences of any kind. You may end your participation by either rerouting your web browser to another website or closing your web browser. The investigator may withdraw you from this research if circumstances arise which warrant doing so. Continuing beyond this page will constitute consent to participate in the research study.
